Riesling and Pinot Noir: An Austro-Oregon Tasting in Portland

A seminar and walk-around trade tasting of Pinot Noirs and Riesling from Austria and Oregon is planned for Wednesday, 24 July at the Olympic Mills Commerce Center in Portland, Oregon.  The seminar will run from 10.30 to 11.30 am, while the walk-around tasting will begin at 11.30 am, and continue until approximately 1.30 pm.  The sponsors are the Austrian Wine Marketing Board and the Austrian Trade Commission.

The seminar will feature 8 wines of which six are Austrian.  25 Austrian wines and approximately 18 from Oregon will be pored during the walk-around tasting .  The Oregon wines are from Ovum, Project M, Weinbau Paetra, Lemelson Vineyards and Brooks Winery.  The Austrian wines cover 18 producers, including many with established international reputations.  However, about half of these wines are not normally available in the USA, but have instead been imported especially for this event.

Panelists for the seminar will be: Michael Malat, Weingut Malat (Kremstal, Austria), Claire Jarreau (Brooks Winery), Joshua Segal (Prufrock Wines) and John Haeger (oenosite.com)

Further information about the event is available from Little Green Pickle, Inc., a Portland-based public relations firm.  Members of the wine, restaurant, and hospitality trades, and journalists who cover wine and food, are welcome, but must register in advance due to limited space.  Inquiries may be sent to info@littlegreenpickle.com; or 503-894-8695.
